The Master of Science in Health Informatics (MSHI) program at Benedictine University equips students with the knowledge and practical skills to lead in today’s technology-driven healthcare environment. This STEM-designated graduate program blends healthcare, data science, and information technology—preparing students to design, manage, and optimize digital health systems that improve patient care, efficiency, and data-driven decision-making.
Through an industry-aligned curriculum, students develop the ability to analyze healthcare data, manage information systems, and apply emerging technologies to improve outcomes across clinical, administrative, and research settings.
The program is ideal for international students and professionals from diverse academic backgrounds—healthcare, business, computer science, or related fields—who want to advance their careers in health informatics. Students enrolled in the on-campus format are also eligible for Curricular Practical Training (CPT) from Day 1, allowing them to gain real-world work experience while completing their degree.

Graduates of the M.S. in Health Informatics program will:
Develop advanced technical proficiency in health information systems and data management tools.

Program Structure
The M.S. in Health Informatics program requires the successful completion of 33 semester credit hours, structured as follows:
3 credit hours of introductory coursework (may be waived based on prior experience or coursework).
21 credit hours of core courses covering essential concepts in health informatics, data management, and healthcare systems.
9 credit hours of elective courses allowing students to specialize in areas such as health data analytics, information systems management, or public health informatics.
